Completed Block Gallery
Creating with our hands is the starting point of this project. This gallery highlights the completed embroideries, aka “blocks,” each of which represents one day of COVID-19 pandemic data. Our goal is to recreated the entirety of the Johns Hopkins Coronavirus database, which is a little over three years of data. Finding accurate information after that point is very difficult, and we are thinking through how to best represent the ensuing cases and deaths that may or may not be reported. We are also working to include those who are living with Long COVID, some of whose stories you can view and read about here.
The galleries below feature the completed blocks for the years 2020, 2021, and 2022, respectively. There are hundreds still in the works, so check back as they are added.
